We timed our drive to Jebel Hafeet so we would arrive late afternoon for the sunset. Jebel Hafeet is 1249m above sea level at the summit and offer an impressive view of Al Ain and Oman. Even though we are used to the mountains in Canada this is a different cup of tea altogether. We are talking Star Wars landscape here. The warmly toned colours from the sand, sun and rocks are something I have never seen before. Especially right after sundown it was a magical. Andrew had a blast driving his car up and down the windy mountain road which is very well maintained and often used by car manufacturers to test drive cars.
In the evening we caught a soccer game between Al Ain and Al Wasl. We paid all of $4 for our tickets. Good value for money, no doubt. I think we may catch another game later on. The level of soccer was impressive and the home team won 3-0. Al Ain currently tops the UAE League.
