End of June in Paris - Day One

Snippets From Our France and Italy Trip

This was our last stop on a three-week trip in France and Italy, and Paris was preparing for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

We stayed at Hôtel Bastille, near Place de la Bastille. It was a cozy little hotel that we were happy with, located close to the metro, shops, and restaurants.

From the outset, we made good use of the metro and headed out toward Petit Palais. We intended to walk from here back to our hotel at the Place de Bastille. This was a good way to get reacquainted with Paris. We've been to Paris a few times now.

The preparations for the Paris Olympics quickly became apparent as huge venues were set up along the Jardin des Tuileries and the river.

After a quick walkthrough at Petit Palais, we grabbed a coffee and a bite to eat in the park nearby and then continued on foot through a street we hadn’t been through before. It was a day spent mostly on window-shopping and street photography.

It feels like Paris has endless opportunities to explore. Pick one street one day, and then walk the street next over the next day for a new experience, and then continue this pattern :)
