Yesterday, I met with my buddy Kyle for a photo walk in downtown Vancouver. Over the past few years, Kyle has been a big help and source of inspiration for my site. He is always a great sounding board for photography gear ideas and is constantly willing to share his gear, experiences, and outlooks on the industry.

I tried his Sony FE 35mm f1.4 GM yesterday, which we adapted to my Nikon Z6 III using a Megadap adapter. I’ll have more on this later. It's an interesting concept!

But just before we headed out, he pulled a surprise lens from his bag, the Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4. I recall when this lens was announced more than ten years ago. Despite its age, it is still a marvel, perhaps the most well-crafted lens I have seen.

I put the lens on my Z6 III and took a few quick snaps of Kyle. Despite our chats about Nikon and Sony today, the Otus lens will probably be the lasting impression of the day.

Thank you, Kyle, for the photo walk today. It's always a pleasure.
