First World Cup Win for Canada

Granville Street, Vancouver on the day of the Canada-Qatar game during the 2026 World Cuo

Canada-Qatar, 6-0

June 18, 2026

The atmosphere was electric, festive, colorful, and uplifting. I ventured downtown before and after the game on a gorgeous summer day here in Vancouver during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The party kicked up a notch after Canada secured its first-ever World Cup win against Qatar, a game that was dramatic despite the convincing end result. Qatar received two red cards, and unfortunately, Canadian player Ismael Koné left the field with a broken leg.

Here are a few photos from the celebrations.

The photos in this post were captured with a Sony a7v camera and Sony FE 20-70mm f/4 G, Sony FE 50-150mm f/2 GM, and Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G lenses.
