A Visit From Denmark

The Tale of the Two Byskov Families

Although we share the same last night and grew up in the same small town of Lemvig on the West Coast of Denmark we are not related. Søren and I, however, went to grade school and were in the same class for nine straight years. Later as we relocated to Aarhus we played in two bands together and had many fierce badminton matches.

Later in life, we stayed in touch and visited Søren and Mette several times in their beautiful country home in Alslev, Denmark. You can read more about our visits with them here:

It was with great anticipation that picked up the Byskov family at Vancouver Airport in late June as it was their first visit to Canada. We spent the first few days in Vancouver sampling Vancouver cuisine, toured the city, cycled the Stanley Park Seawall walks, and also paid a visit to the Capilano suspension bridge.

Niko, Søren and Mette’s daughter has a keen interest in vinyl albums and cassette tapes. Søren has a rather impressive collection of vinyl himself and they were both ear to ear smiles when we paid a visit to Neptoon Records on Main Street in Vancouver.
