Cassis on the French Riviera

A gorgeous view of Cassis, France

The Marvellous French Riviera in Cassis

Côte d'Azur Photo Essay

After spending an adventurous day in Nîmes and Aix en Provence, we made the beautiful drive into Cassis right around sunset. We were surprised at how busy it was but then remembered it was school holiday time in France. Ravenous after a long day on the road we had dinner at the first place we spotted along the harbor front.

It proved tricky to find a hotel room so we booked an F1 self-check-in budget hotel online. It was about a quarter of the cost of a room in Cassis and only a 15-minute drive towards Marseille.

At F1 they had bunk beds, shared bathrooms, and a decent breakfast was included and now we are that experience richer. In the morning we returned to Cassis and took the scenic route to La Ciotat.

It was still fairly early morning when we arrived at the viewpoints and despite Di's fear of heights, she did not want to miss this spectacular view of the Mediterranean. Next on our road trip, Cannes.
