Washington State Road Trip

Photo Essay

There was no time to build up expectations for our Washington State road trip, and yet we came away positively surprised. We crossed the border in Osoyoos and had a no-fuss overnight stay in an affordable motel in Oroville.

After a solid oatmeal breakfast and coffee at a cozy diner, we hit Hwy 20, not really knowing what to expect. We have crossed the mountains to the Lower Mainland many times but never traveled this route via Winthop

Winthrop, Washington Pass, Rainy Lake, and Ross Lake

The first stop was in Winthrop, a western-themed town. Washington Pass took our breath away with several viewpoints and a stunning short hike right off the highway.

The hike into Rainy Lake was a bit longer than expected but certainly worthwhile. Ross Lake was a spectacle as well. We continued onto Bellingham where we spent another night before returning to Vancouver.
