Overnight Stay at Crowsnest Vineyards
We are not strangers to the South Okanagan as we have stayed, played, and worked numerous times in Osoyoos. However, when traveling from the Okanagan to the Lower Mainland, we’d never really stopped to smell the roses in the Cawston/Keremeos region.
The success of the South Okanagan has spilled into this region, and everywhere you look, you have wineries, fruit orchards, and fruit stands along the highway.
Our stop in Cawston was part of a more extended road trip, which you can read more about here:

Crowsnest Vineyard
Our stay at Crowsnest Vineyard was a bit of a mixed bag. We may have been tired at the end of our road trip. We arrived on a cloudy and windy afternoon to check into our room, but it wasn’t ready (entirely our fault as we arrived an hour before check-in).
We went for a walk and could feel the familiar heat from the Okanagan, although it was partly overcast. We thought walking down to the river would be cool, but it was further than anticipated.
Our room was okay, but without any wow factor. I think our expectations may have been too high. Nothing was wrong with the room, but it was bare bones.
In our confirmation email, a wine tasting was mentioned, and we were looking forward to this, but when we checked in, we were told they didn’t do wine tastings. We weren’t sure if it was a staffing issue or if they were running low on wines.

Keremeos
Before dinner, we drove to Keremeos, and although it’s a quiet town, there was more life here, more fruit stands, and a Friday night market.
We drove down to the river and enjoyed the marvelous backdrop of the mountains nearby. The region can be rather breathtaking, quaint, and beautiful and don’t let the few niggles we experience deter you from visiting the gorgeous region.
Dinner back at the vineyard was excellent, and they had a live blues band to entertain.
