Summer Days in Auckland With a Fujifilm X-Pro2 and XF 35mm f/1.4 R

During our month in New Zealand, we made it to downtown Auckland on a couple of occasions. On our first visit, we parked our borrowed Mini near the Devonport Ferry Terminal and took the ferry back and forth.

It was a perfect way to see the city from the water and then dive deeper with the camera. We met Josh for lunch and later for coffee and a street photography session. On the second visit, we had just returned from a road trip to Coromandel.

My Setup for Street Photography

As so many times before during our 50 months of travel, and now in our last month and last country, I carried just one camera and one lens for the photos in this post. For my Fujifilm X-Pro2, I used a 50mm full-frame equivalent lens in the XF 35mm f/1.4 R. All the photos in this post were taken with this combination.

When doing street photography it can be very liberating not to carry too much, be in the moment, and not be distracted by switching lenses every five minutes. It was great to have Josh show us part of the downtown core, his usual stomping grounds for street photography.

We visited New Zealand in February 2020. My main setup for street photography has since evolved to a Fujifilm X-Pro3 and XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR.

The photos in this article are made using a Fujifilm X-Pro2 and XF 35mm f/1.4 R lens (links to my camera and lens reviews). Editing was done in Capture One Express. I have used Fujifilm film simulations for the photos in this post namely the Acros black and white film simulation
