BC and Alberta Road Trip - Chapter 3 - Mt. Robson and Jasper

Driving along the Yellowhead Highway in Alberta, Canada
This is the Third Chapter from our BC and Alberta Road Trip in the fall of 2025. In late September, early October we set out on a 2,250 Km (1,400 Miles) road trip with a main objective to experience the fall colors in BCs Coastal Mountains, interior, and the Alberta Rockies.
In an unconvential way for us, we will index this post by our mileage markers and share with you anything that comes to mind, from the mundane to the extraordinary.
BC and Alberta Fall Road Trip Map
Our trip was 2250 km (1400 miles) long, to and from Vancouver, via Whistler, Clinton, Valemount, Mt. Robson, Jasper, Banff, and Radium Hot Srpings

773 Km
Stopped for more groceries at the IGA in Valemont.
810 Km
You spot Mt. Robson on the horizon a while before you arrive, as it sticks out of the landscape so majestically. We checked out the Visitors Centre and walked the short 1 Km loop. Clouds persistently hung around the top, but we did get a pretty decent view of Mt. Robson and the surrounding mountains.
812 Km
Overland Falls was a pleasant surprise, with a rewarding hike and views of the Fraser River. It was a classic case of under-promise but over-deliver.
Mt. Robson, British Columbia
871 Km
Our daily rest stop was at the Yellowhead Lake boat launch picnic area. We had a gorgeous view from this spot where we made coffee, oatmeal, chocolate, and other treats. The weather was completely cooperating.
878 Km
Quick stop at Yellowhead Pass.
905 km
We arrived in Jasper at the Athabaska hotel. Di went for a walk and checked out the local shops, while Morten did sunset photography of the mountains and the aftermath of the 2024 wildfires. It was devastating to see the many lost structures and the landscape completely changed.
Dinner was at the local pizza-and-pasta place. The food was average, but the service was great, and just what we needed. We went back to the room, watched an episode of Slow Horses, and had an early night.
Stay tuned for the next chapter with more from Jasper.
