BC and Alberta Road Trip - Chapter 4 - Jasper SkyTram Hike

A wonderful hike awaits you at the Jasper SkyTram in Alberta, Canada

This is the Fourth Chapter from our BC and Alberta Road Trip in the fall of 2025. In late September, early October we set out on a 2,250 Km (1,400 Miles) road trip with a main objective to experience the fall colors in BCs Coastal Mountains, interior, and the Alberta Rockies.

In an unconvential way for us, we will index this post by our mileage markers and share with you anything that comes to mind, from the mundane to the extraordinary.

Our trip was 2250 km (1400 miles) long, to and from Vancouver, via Whistler, Clinton, Valemount, Mt. Robson, Jasper, Banff, and Radium Hot Srpings

Jasper SkyTram and an Awesome Hike

920 Km

After a few days on the road, we were excited for a real adventure. Originally, we had thought of the Jasper SkyTram as a bit of a copout, as in, do we really need to spend all that money to see the mountains? Why not just admire them from the valley?

The Jasper SkyTram experience exceeded our expectations in many ways, and we highly recommend it.

It was amazing, with views and dramatic weather, and we thought it would be an easy hike. With the strong winds, it was pretty strenuous to get to the summit, but the views up there were worth it, and it felt like an accomplishment.

We loved the scenery and stopped several times on our way to the summit to take in the views (and to catch our breath). On our way down, we stopped for a rest, leaned up against a rock, and enjoyed our lunch.

Wrapping up the experience, we had coffee and carrot cake in the restaurant before the gondola whisked us back down to the valley floor—a very civilized way to be a mountaineer.

In 2026, the Jasper SkyTram operates from April 15th to October 25th. For more information, check the official site here:
