In the summer of 2024, our friend Philippe was reunited with his father’s old 1949 Simca Fanfani Roaster (link to the post about the car). We joined him in the small town of Mimbaste and were treated to a few surprises.

Our host in Mimbaste, Lionel Cousseau, kindly invited us to an evening bull run event, followed by a festive community moules-frites dinner.

In this post/photo essay, we share photos from the town fair and moules-frites event.

Great atmosphere at the Moules-Frites dinner with live music. Mimaste, France.

Town Fair

The town fair reminded me of my childhood in Denmark, where I recall running errands for my grandmother to earn a few coins for a bumper car ride. A lot has changed since then, but it was great to see kids running wild and having a blast.

Moules-Frites Community Dinner

The moules-frites dinner was a wonderful surprise, with an abundance of food, and we joined what felt like hundreds of locals for this event.

There was live music, dancing, and singing, and the food was delicious. Thanks again to Lionel for including us in this local tradition.
